Archers receive hero’s welcome after winning Asia Cup Gold

DHAKA, March 29, 2026 (BSS)—The Bangladesh archery team returned home to a warm welcome today after clinching a gold medal at the Asia Cup Archery Tournament (Stage-1) held in Bangkok, Thailand.

The team brought the laurel, defeating Vietnam by 231-225 in the compound men’s team event, marking a significant achievement for the country in international archery.

Upon arrival at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, the champions were given floral reception by officials and supporters. 

On behalf of the State Minister for Youth and Sports, Youth and Sports Secretary Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam welcomed the team with flowers and extended heartfelt congratulations to the players, coaches, and officials.

World Archery Asia President Kazi Rajib Uddin Ahmed Chapal and Bangladesh Archery Federation President Professor Dr. Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman were also present, among others.

Speaking at the reception, the Youth and Sports Secretary described the victory as a “glorious achievement” for Bangladesh, emphasizing that winning gold in a prestigious competition like the Asia Cup highlights the country’s growing strength in archery.

He expressed optimism about the team’s future, saying he believes Bangladesh’s archers will continue to excel on the international stage and bring further pride to the nation.
