DHAKA, Feb 24, 2026 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Women's team is set to kick off the ICC Women's T20 World Cup by taking on Netherlands on June 14 at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham, England.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has released the grouping and fixture of the tournament to confirm the outcome.
Bangladesh, who had moved to the tournament proper through the Qualifiers were drawn in Group 1, alongside Australia, South Africa, India, Pakistan and Netherlands.
West Indies, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, Ireland and Scotland are pitted into Group 2.
The ICC informed that the Women's T20 World Cup 2026 will take place in England and Wales from June 12 to July 5.
Over the course of 24 days, a total of 33 matches will be played across seven top-tier venues, including Old Trafford Cricket Ground (Manchester), Headingley (Leeds), Hampshire Bowl (Southampton), and Bristol County Ground.
The newly-expanded competition will see 12 teams competing for the prestigious trophy currently held by New Zealand.
Having gone unbeaten in the qualifiers, Bangladesh will be looking to make their mark in Group 2 having been a regular presence at ICC Women's T20 World Cups in recent years. Tough tests await them, including Australia at Headingley on June 17, and an in-form India on June 25 at Old Trafford.
"We're really happy to have qualified for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026. I'm incredibly proud of the way the team performed, dominating in every game," Bangladesh captain Nigar Sultana Joty said.
"We have never played in England before so we're excited but know it's going to be a big challenge. We can't wait for the big event and we're going to prepare ourselves with everything and play our best cricket and win games for our country," she added.
