DHAKA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Women's cricket team captain Nigar
Sultana Joty praised her team's consistent batting performance, which she
believes was crucial to the Tigresses' dominant showing in the ICC Women's
T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

The Tigresses capped off their campaign with a perfect record, winning all
seven matches in a row. As a result, they secured their spot in the 2026 ICC
Women's T20 World Cup in England and Wales this June.

"There was always criticism that our batters lacked consistency. But in this
tournament, they really stepped up, giving us the platform to win the matches
comprehensively," Joty said after their seven-wicket victory against the
Netherlands, which also marked their final match in the qualifiers.

"Our bowlers were as consistent as they always are. They supported the
batters well, and as a team, we were far more consistent. We really played
dominant cricket," she added.

Joty also reflected on the team's pre-tournament goal of qualifying for the
T20 World Cup and shared her pride in achieving an unbeaten run.
"The plan was always to qualify for the T20 World Cup, but we also wanted to
win the tournament and stay unbeaten. It's truly satisfying to see our hard
work come to fruition," she said.

She credited the team's unity and discipline as key factors in their success.

"All the credit goes to our players, who performed exceptionally throughout
the tournament. Everyone played their role, and that's why we were able to
achieve such a dominant performance."

With the World Cup qualification secured, Joty said the focus would now shift
to preparing for the bigger challenge ahead.

"We are not just going to the T20 World Cup to participate, we want to
perform well and win matches. So, preparation is crucial," she emphasized.

"We need to play some international matches before the World Cup to ensure we
are better prepared. We want to give our country an impactful performance."
