DHAKA, Feb 1, 2026 (BSS) - Bangladesh Women wrapped up the ICC Women's T20
World Cup Qualifiers in style, sealing their seventh consecutive win with a
commanding seven-wicket victory over the Netherlands at the Mulpani Cricket
Ground in Nepal on Sunday.
Already assured of qualification for the T20 World Cup, set to be held in
England and Wales in June-July, the Tigresses finished the tournament as
table-toppers. They were flawless throughout, winning all four group-stage
matches before sweeping all three games in the Super Six phase.
Despite the defeat, the Netherlands also booked their place at this year's
World Cup, joining Ireland and Scotland.
Nahida Akter claimed 3-10 in four overs as Netherlands managed to put up just
102-6 after opting to bat first.
Marufa Akter, Rabeya Khan and Shorna Akter took one wicket apiece.
Skipper Nigar Sultana Joty then led Bangladesh to victory with an unbeaten 44
ball-50 not out, a knock that steered the side to 105-3 for a comprehensive
win in 16.4 overs.
Sobahan Mostary continued her rich vein of form with 33 not out. Joty and
Sobhana added 57 runs for the unbeaten fourth wicket stand after Bangladesh
experienced a top order collapse.
With opener Juairiya Ferdous Mou bagging a duck in the first ball and Dilara
Akter making just 4, Bangladesh were at struggling at six for two.
Joty steadied the innings from the early collapse with a 42-run partnership
with Sharmin Akter Supta (13) before taking the side to the victory with the
match-winning partnership with Sobhana.
