DHAKA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Ten men Bagerhat U-17 district football team emerged as group champions as they beat Patuakhali U-17 district football team by 4-1 goals held at Pirojpur district stadium in Pirojpur today.
Bagerhat took the lead through a suicidal goal as Patuakhali's captain Rumon Fakir scored an own goal in the very first minute. Yesin Mia however restored the parity for Patuakhali in the 14th minute.
Bagerhat again took the lead when Arafat Hossain scored the second goal in the 22nd minute while after the breather Tariqul Islam further widened Bagerhat's margin scoring the third goal in the 50th minute.
Nabin sealed the victory scoring the fourth goal for Bagerhat converting a penalty corner in the 67th minute of the match.
Rokonuzzaman Ranu of Bagerhat got the marching order by the referee following his double yellow cards in the 90th minute.
In the day's second match also held at the same venue, Barisal did not arrive in venue on time, so the referee waited thirty minutes to start the match. Barguna was declared the winners 3-0 at the final whistle.
As Patuakhali and Barguna are tied at four points, Barguna is confirmed in the semi-final based on yellow cards and will face Jhalokathi on January 22.
