Rajshahi Warriors gear up for BPL

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2025 (BSS) - Rajshahi Warriors' head coach Hannan Sarkar has confirmed that the team will depart Dhaka for Sylhet on December 23 to kick off their campaign in the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL).

The tournament's Sylhet phase will begin on December 26, and Rajshahi is eager to get their season underway.

Speaking to the media, Hannan shared that the team's preparations are well on track. The squad has already started practicing at the Mirpur Academy, with key local players like Mushfiqur Rahim, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Akbar Ali, Hasan Murad, and Jishan Alam in full training.

Rajshahi's six foreign players are also set to join the team from day one of the BPL. These players are expected to arrive in Dhaka on December 22 or the morning of December 23.

"We are moving forward after getting the green signal from the foreign cricketers," said Hannan. "Our six foreign players will be in Sylhet from day one, InshaAllah."

The Rajshahi Warriors' foreign contingent includes Sahibzada Farhan, Mohammad Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Sandeep Lamichhane, Binura Fernando, and Jahandad Khan.

While Sri Lankan cricketer Dushan Hemanth was also expected to join, Hannan confirmed that his participation is unlikely due to pending clearance issues.

"We had planned with these six foreign players in mind," said Hannan. "While the situation with Hemanth is uncertain, we are fully focused on the team we have, and we're looking forward to a strong start in the BPL."

As the opening match of BPL 12 approaches, Rajshahi Warriors are confident in their preparations and remain committed to delivering an exciting season of cricket despite the challenges.

Hannan concluded, "The franchise is eager to showcase their new line-up and build momentum for a successful campaign in Sylhet."
