DHAKA, Dec 18, 2025 (BSS) - Victory Day School Kabaddi tournament, marking the Victory Day began at national kabaddi stadium in the city’s Paltan area today (Thursday).
Additional secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Md Salim Fakir formally opened the two-day meet as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) vice president Abdullah Al Noman presided over the opening ceremony. BKF general secretary SM Newaz Shohag was also present there.
Speaking as the chief guest on the occasion, Additional Secretary Selim Fakir said the government is providing all kinds of support for Kabaddi. Recently, Kabaddi players have proven their capabilities by securing third place in the Women's World Cup. Kabaddi has a lot of success than other federations. New talent would emerge through such school tournament.
On the opening day, Hardinge Government High School and Civil Aviation School and College in Dhamrai reached final in the boys’ section, while in the girls' section Hamida Afaz Girls' High School and Mirpur Girls' Ideal School confirmed their spot of final in the girls’ section. Both the finals will be held tomorrow (Friday).
A total of ten school teams -- six of boys’ and four of girls’ --- are taking part in the knock out basis competition, organized by BKF.
