DHAKA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) - The much-awaited AFB Latin Bangla Super Cup begins at National Stadium in the capital tomorrow.
Three teams - Red Green Future Star of Bangladesh, Sao Bernardo Football Club of Brazil and Atletico Charlone of Argentina -- will compete in the tournament, organized by AF Boxing Promotion International Limited (AFBPIL).
On the first day, host Red Green Future Star of Bangladesh take on Sao Bernardo Football Club of Brazil that kicks off at 7 pm. Red Green Future Star will play their second match against Atletico Charlone of Argentina on December 8 while Sao Bernardo Football Club meet Atletico Charlone on December 11.
Ahead of the tournament a pre match press conference was held at the city's local hotel today with the players and coaches of three participating teams to provide all the details of the meet.
Imrul Kayes, head coach of the host Red Green Future Star Club, informed that most of the players in this team are from the U-17 national team. The squad includes 19 players from the team that played in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers in China. The 23-man team also includes four expatriate players.
Regarding Bangladesh's goal, Coach Kayes said, "We don't know much about these two teams, Brazil and Argentina. But this is a great opportunity for our footballers to get acquainted with Latin football. I hope our boys can learn a lot. Our aim is to do as much as we can."
On the other hand, both Latin American teams have expressed their determination to win the tournament. The coach of Argentine Atletico Charlone Club thanked the organizers and said, "We are very happy to be here ... we are prepared to show Argentina's skills in this tournament ...our team has been made up of the best footballers."
Sao Bernardo Football Club coach also echoed the same statement by saying that they are very happy to be here.
"People in Bangladesh love football. We want to win the tournament by playing our best game, ", he said.
The Brazilian coach said Bangladesh is a tough opponent, so the match would not only tough against Argentina but also against Bangladesh.
In the press conference, the organizers informed that apart from online, spectators would also be able to collect tickets from the stadium gate on the match day.
AFBPIL managing director MD Asaduzzaman thanked Bangladesh Football Federation president, vice presidents executive members and general secretary and National Sports Council for their tremendous support to organize the tournament.
Two-time World Cup-winning Brazilian legend Cafu and Argentine former professional footballer Caniggia are expected to present in the Brazil-Argentina match on December 11 at National Stadium.
