DHAKA, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh made losing start in the FIH Hockey Men's Junior World Cup when they suffered a 5-3 goals defeat to Australia in their opening group match held at Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium in Chennai, India today.
In the first quarter, Australia took lead in the very first minute through a field goal but Aminul Islam restored the parity for Bangladesh converting penalty corner in the 14th minute.
The second quarter saw, strong Australia added three goals in their tally in the 18th, 22nd and 24th minutes by maintain their domination.
In the third quarter, Amirul Islam reduced the margin scoring his second goal again converting a penalty corner in the 42nd minute of the match.
In the last quarter, Australia further widened their margin scoring the fifth through a field goal in the 48th minute while Aminul reduced the margin for Bangladesh completing his hat-trick goal in the 59th minute of the match.
Bangladesh will play their remaining group matches against South Korea and France on November 30 and December 2 respectively.
