Bangladesh thrash Sri Lanka 5-0

DHAKA, Nov 26, 2025 (BSS) - Motivated Bangladesh U-17 national football team continued their winning run in the 2026 AFC U-17 Asian Cup qualifiers thrashing Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals held at Tongliang Long Stadium, Chongqing, China today (Wednesday).

Bangladesh found the net in the 24th minute. Arif delivered a well-timed pass to Ikramul, who headed the ball into the net.

Manik doubled the margin scoring the second goal for Bangladesh in the 29th minute. Opu provided a brilliant pass to Manik, who coolly received the ball and scored with a perfect finishing.

After the resumption, Bangladesh continued their onslaught and added three more goals to secure their third consecutive win in the tournament.

The third goal came for Bangladesh in the 64th minute as Rifat passed the ball to Faysal who beat one defender and calmly placed the ball into the net.

Bayzit further widened the margin scoring the fourth goal for Bangladesh with a powerful long-range shot in the 90th minute while Faysal completed the winners' tally scoring his second and fifth goals for Bangladesh with a superb long kick from a half-volley.

Bangladesh dominated most of the match and continuously pressed the Sri Lanka defence and notched their deserved victory.

Earlier, Bangladesh made a flying start in the tournament, crushing Timor-Leste by 5-0 goals in the opening group A match and thrashing Brunei by 8-0 goals in their second match.

Bangladesh will play their remaining group matches against Bahrain on November 28 and host China on November 30.

Seven group champions will secure places in the 16-team finals, joining hosts Saudi Arabia and eight other nations who have already qualified for the 2025 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
