DHAKA, Nov 25, 2025 (BSS) - Left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam claimed a seven-wicket haul as Barishal registered second victory in the 27th National Cricket League (NCL), securing a six-wicket victory over Dhaka Division in their fifth round match at Cox’s Bazar Cricket Stadium today.
Tanvir ripped through Dhaka’s batting line up with 7-64, wrapping them up for just 169 in the second innings on Day 4, after they resumed at 124-5.
His brilliant bowling gave Dhaka only a 102-run target for a victory and they overhauled the target, reaching 107-4 in 34.3 overs.
Opener Iftekhar Hossain Ifti, who made 78 in the first innings, led the charge with the willow with 57 not out. His opening partner Adil Bin Siddik made 30.
The openers added 41 runs after which Barishal tasted a hiccup, losing four wickets for 39 runs with Fazle Mahmud and Abdulah bagging duck.
Ifti, however, stayed calm under pressure to lead the side to the victory.
Earlier, Dhaka posted 273 in the first innings, thanks to Marshall Ayub’s 120, a knock which took him to 10,000 first class runs as the fourth Bangladeshi batter.
Barishal replied with 341 all out, taking a 68-run lead that became instrumental in their victory finally.
