DHAKA, Nov 22, 2025 (BSS)— Pacer Irfan Hossain returned figures of 5-65 as Chattogram Division kept them aloft over Sylhet on Day 1 of the National Cricket League (NCL) fifth round game against Sylhet at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra today.

Irfan’s five-for wrapped up Sylhet for 255 in its first innings after which Chattogram raced to 19-1, still trailing by 236 runs.

Captain Zakir Hasan who opened the innings for Sylhet hit 73 and kept the side in the contest amid the strike of Irfan. He hit a dozen of boundaries in his knock as Sylhet middle order fell like a pack of cards after being sent to bat first.

Two of the top four batters were dismissed for duck to further worsen Sylhet’s situation before lower order batter Rejaur Rahman Raja played a 57-run knock to steady the innings. Ashraful Rihad was the other notable scorer with 46 runs.

Mehedi Hasan grabbed 3-41 to complement Irfan in ripping through Sylhet batting line up.

In reply, Chattogram lost Sadikur Rahman for 5 in the second over before Jasim Uddin and Ahmed Sharif saw off the day, batting with 13 and 1 run respectively.
