DHAKA, Oct 30, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh’s athletes have kept their focus on multi-sports carnival, the 6th Islamic Solidarity Games, to achieve desired result for the country.
The 6th Islamic Solitary Games will be held in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, from November 7 to 21. Nearly 3000 athletes from 57 countries around the World will participate in the multi sports event.
The event will feature elite athletes from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation competing in a variety of sports, including athletics, swimming, football, wrestling, and many others. Saudi Arabia also hosted the first edition of the games in 2005.
Addressing at a press conference held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) auditorium Bangladesh Chef de mission and Youth and Sports Ministry’s Additional Secretary Md Selim Fakir said the athletes have taken a very good preparation for the games and he hoped that they (athletics) would be able to bring laurel for the country giving their best effort.
He said a total of 36 athletes will compete in the ten disciplines. The disciplines are - athletics, Fencing, Karate, swimming, table tennis weightlifting, wrestling, Wushu Judo and Taekwondo.
Bangladesh will start their campaign with Judo, Table Tennis, weightlifting and swimming event on November 8, he added.
Chef de mission said in the past Islamic Solidarity Games, Bangladesh has won one gold, one silver and one bronze medal in shooting, two silver and one bronze medal in archery and one bronze medal in wrestling. Archery and shooting are not included in the edition. Discussions have been held with all the teams and all have expressed their hope of achieving the desired result in the games by giving their best.
Along with the 36 athletes, sixteen officials, including coaches, managers and team officials, will go to Riyadh.
SA Games gold medal winner Mabia Akter Simanto and emerging table tennis player Muhtasin Ahmed Hridy have been chosen to carry the national flag in the march past of the opening ceremony of the games.
The participating athletes and team officials will start to leave here for Riyadh on November 5 in phases and they will return home after the games.
