DHAKA, Oct 23, 2025 (BSS) - Hosts Bangladesh registered their second
successive win in the CAVA Cup Men's 2025, beating Nepal by exciting 3-2 set
held at the Shaheed Suhrawardy Indoor Stadium in Mirpur today (Thursday).
The home side looked set for a routine victory after taking the first two
sets, but Nepal refused to roll over. The visitors clawed back with fierce
defence and relentless rallies to level the contest at two sets apiece. The
decider became a test of grit rather than grace, and it was Bangladesh's Al
Amin who rose to the occasion, sealing key points at the death to earn both
victory and the Player of the Match award.
Earlier in the day, Turkmenistan maintained their fine form with another 3-1
win, this time over Sri Lanka (25-22, 25-16, 20-25, 25-20). Serdar Durdyyev,
once again instrumental in attack, claimed the Player of the Match award.
In the second fixture, Afghanistan brushed aside the Maldives in straight
sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-12), with Mohammad Shah Badoon producing a commanding
all-round performance to earn his second Player of the Match title.
The six-nation tournament, featuring Bangladesh, Nepal, the Maldives, Sri
Lanka, Turkmenistan and Afghanistan, will wrap up on October 28.
