DHAKA, Oct 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz opted to bat first after winning the toss in their second ODI against West Indies at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today.

The hosts are eyeing to confirm the three-match series after winning the first game by 74 runs.

Bangladesh spinners took eight wickets in the first match, with leg-spinner Rishad Hossain alone snapping up 6-35 on a sluggish wicket.

To spin West Indies further, Bangladesh included left-arm Nasum Ahmed in the playing XI for their only change from the previous match, replacing fast bowler Taskin Ahmed.

Bangladesh in fact came with a three-spinners, one-pacer formula for the second game in a bid to take an unassailable 2-0 lead.

"I think 230 to 240 is a very good score on this wicket. We could have scored 30 runs more in the last match, but we were not able to play the full 50 overs," Miraz told the broadcasters after the toss.

"If we play 50 overs, we can definitely achieve that. After two quick wickets, we had a good partnership between Hridoy and Mahidul in the last match. That was our key point in the last game."

West Indies made two changes from the previous match in a bid to stay alive in the series, with left-arm spinner Akeal Hosein and top-order batter Ackeem Auguste replacing fast bowler Jayden Seales and Romario Shepherd.

West Indies captain Shai Hope emphasized dealing with spinners better as key to leveling the series.

"The discussion has been about formulating our plan around the team plan, especially against the spin in the middle overs," Hope said.

"We've got to shape our game towards coming out on top of that challenge. The discussion has been very positive; the guys are ready for this game."
