DHAKA, Oct 14, 2025 (BSS)- Two artificial turfs -- Kamalapur Stadium and
artificial turf adjacent to the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) building
-- under FIFA Forward Project have been formally inaugurated today (Tuesday).
Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan inaugurated the turf of
Kamalpur Stadium in the morning while BFF president Tabith Awal opened the
turf adjacent to BFF Bhaban in the afternoon.
After inaugurating the two turfs, a joint press conference with the Sports
Advisor was scheduled for the BFF Bhaban but due to the advisor's busy
schedule, he did not attend the inauguration of the BFF Bhaban adjacent turf.
Therefore, BFF president Tabith Awal had to appear in front of the media.
The renovation work of the two turfs began on December 17, last year and BFF
officially got possession of this turf today, said the BFF president.
FIFA has provided 1.3 million for these two turfs.
Tabith Awal informed that Greenfield, a FIFA-certified company, supervised
the two turfs and also hired subcontractors. BFF only provided local
logistical support. The term of this turf is 15 years.
The BFF committee, led by its president, has undertaken many new activities
in these 11 months. However, grassroots domestic football games have not been
launched because of ground problems, with two turfs now operational, BFF now
wants to host age-based international tournaments.
Tabith said many tournaments are held on turf nowadays. There are many
tournaments bidding ahead and they have plans to participate there. He also
disclosed his intention to host the National U-15 Championship, First
Division Football in the coming days.
