Bangladesh opt to bowl first in 2nd T20 against Afghanistan

DHAKA, Oct 3, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh captain Jaker Ali Anik opted to bowl
first after winning the toss in the second T20 International against
Afghanistan at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in UAE today.

A win in the match will confirm Bangladesh's series victory as they won the
first game by four wickets after recovering from a sensational collapse that
saw them lost six wickets for nine runs.

Jaker Ali, however, is confident of their chance to confirm the series with a
match to go.

"We had a good start yesterday and a good strategy. We took some good rest.
Looking forward to this game," Jaker told the broadcaster after the match.

Bangladesh made two changes from the previous squad with Saifuddin and
Shoriful Islam returning to the fold in place of Taskin Ahmed and Tanzim
Hasan Sakib.

Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan was not disappointed to get batting as option
after losing the toss.

"We wanted to bat first as well. Yesterday we didn't do well with the bat. We
were happy to bat first yesterday also. You need to give time here," Rashid
said.

"Later on it was easy to bat on. We have to focus on not losing too many
wickets early on. Each and every game is quite important. We haven't done
well in the tri-series and the Asia Cup. We need to believe in our minds we
can do well."

Afghanistan brought up three changes in a bid to level the series in what
turned out to be 'do or die' contest.

Sharafuddin Ashraf, Mohammad Ishaq and Fareed Ahmad Malik were dropped to
accommodate Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Wafiullah Tarakhil and Abdullah Ahmadzai.
