DHAKA, Sept 27, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh Women's team Captain Nigar Sultana
Joty exuded confidence to do well in the forthcoming ICC Cricket World Cup,
saying that her side now evolved as a team to win matches consistently from
occasional flashes of brilliance.

Ahead of leaving the country, Bangladesh set a goal to win at least two
matches against Pakistan and Sri Lanka in a bid to eclipse their result in
the previous World Cup.

In the last ODI World Cup, which was their first appearance in the marquee
tournament, Bangladesh beat Pakistan for a memorable start.

Joty said, this time they are eying big in the showcase event, set to run
from September 30 to November 2 in India and Sri Lanka.

"This is our second ODI World Cup and earlier we were inexperienced and
unfamiliar with winning on a big stage," Joty said while speaking at a
special Captains' Day event which was held simultaneously in Bengaluru and
Colombo.

"However, since then, we have played a lot of cricket both at home and
abroad, and now we know how to win matches in tournament settings."

Joty believes this World Cup is an opportunity for them to prove their
credential further.

"We are eagerly looking forward to this World Cup. This is a great
opportunity for all of us," she said, adding that their good performance
would promote women's cricket back in Bangladesh.

"We are aware of our responsibility to promote cricket back home, where
interest in women's cricket is growing," she noted.
"We believe it is time to give back to our supporters through our
performances."

Bangladesh will open the World Cup with the match against Pakistan in Colombo
on October 2.
