We believe we’ll play the final of Asia Cup: Jaker Ali

DHAKA, Sept 24, 2025 (BSS)—Despite a defeat to India, Bangladesh stand-in captain Jaker Ali Anik believes his side is still capable of making Asia Cup final.

Bangladesh will take on Pakistan tomorrow (Thursday), a game turned out to be an unofficial semi-final. Whoever wins the game will take on India in the final of the regional tournament on September 28.

Jaker insisted that the defeat to India is not the end of the world.

“We have to keep in mind that we can win tomorrow and play the final,” he told the broadcasters after the game against India at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Jaker, however, wants to take the positive from the 41-run defeat to India.

India headed toward a 200 plus total after a marauding start by Avishek, who hammered 37 ball-75 as India reached 112 in 11 overs.

Bangladesh clawed back into the game impeccably after the run out dismissal of Avishek, forcing India to manage only 56 runs in the last nine overs.

“It's quite surprising, but I take the preparation. All the credit goes to the boys, after ten overs they adjusted brilliantly,” Jaker said, adding that they have a lot to take from this match.
“We can take lots of things from this game; we have another game tomorrow, what we should win. We believe we can win that and make the final.”
