DHAKA, Sept 21, 2025 (BSS) - Bangladesh captain Liton Das believes his pace
bowling duo Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman shifted the momentum towards
them by delivering two excellent overs toward end of Sri Lankan innings.
According to him, those two overs in 19th and 20th gave Bangladesh a sense of
belief to overcome the target set by the Lankan during the crucial Asia Cup
Super Fours contest at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Mustafizur conceded just four runs in the penultimate over while Taskin gave
away 10 runs in the last over, giving 14 runs in combine to help the side
restrict Sri Lanka to 168-7 on a placid deck.
Bangladesh thereafter gunned down the target with ease, albeit a drama in the
last over, with one ball to spare and won it by four wickets eventually.
"Before the Asia Cup we played a few series and we chased down the target so
we knew we have a good batting side," Liton told the broadcasters after the
match.
"We know how effective Mustafizur is. It was a very good wicket. Mustafizur
and Taskin changed the game, with their 19th and 20th overs. Sri Lanka seemed
to head toward 190 at one time," he added.
Saif Hassan struck his maiden fifty and scored 61 off 45 eventually while
Towhid Hridoy blasted 37 ball-58 to help Bangladesh reach the target.
Liton heaped praise of Saif Hassan, saying that there is no doubt about the
opener's talent and match-winning capability.
"I know Saif has the talent to win us games. We knew he will be a good
batsman in the UAE. I know his character, and know his game," he said, adding
that the victory gave them much-needed boost to beat India in the next match.
"Whenever you chase this type of game, you are pumped up for the next game.
We have to come good again; new game new team, we have to bring our A game."
