DHAKA, Sept 20, 2025 (BSS)—Mustafizur Rahman came up with an intriguing pace bowling to claim three wickets for just 19 runs in four overs against Sri Lanka, a bowling that helped him level with Shakib Al Hasan as top wicket-taker for the country in T20 Internationals.
Two of his three wickets came in the penultimate over, in which he conceded just four runs to stall Sri Lanka’s aggressive progress.
His bowling was key in helping the side restrict Sri Lanka to 168-7 as the opponents looked destined for 200 plus total after Dasun Shanaka’s epic 37 balll-64 not out.
The three wickets took his wicket tally to 149 in 117 matches while Shakib had the same number of wickets in 129 matches.
Mustafizur is expected to go past Shakib as the top wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the coming match of the Asia Cup.
