DHAKA, Sept 18, 2025 (BSS)—Veteran batter Mushfiqur Rahim is all set to become the first Bangladeshi batter to play 100th Test, when his side will take on Ireland in a two-match Test series at home in November.

Mushfiqur’s milestone match was confirmed when Ireland gave its nod to play a two-match Test series.

Although it was a scheduled two-match Test series, Irland sought to replace the second Test match with an ODI series.

But the two boards then consulted and decided to play two Test matches.

Mushfiqur had already played 98 Tests for Bangladesh, making 6328 runs at an average of 38.12. He is only Bangladesh batter till date to have scored 6000 plus runs in Test format. His Test highest 219 is also the highest individual score for Bangladesh in this format.

A BCB official informed that the first Test will be held in Sylhet from November 11 while second Test is from November 19 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur. The second Test will be Mushfiqur’s 100th Test.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board is expected to make it memorable for Mushfiqur with various programmes.

The two teams will also play three T20 internationals, on November 27 and 29 in Chattogram and on December 2 in Dhaka.

The 37-year old Mushfiqur made his debut at Iconic Lord’s in 2005 as an 18-year-old, becoming the second-youngest to play a Test at the venue, considered as ‘home of cricket’ after Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar.

20 years after that, he is set to play his 100th Test as only the first Bangladeshi cricketer that will etch his name permanently in the country’s cricket folklore.
