DHAKA, Sept 17, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim made a giant leap in the ICC T20 batters' rankings following his match-winning 31 ball-52 against Afghanistan in a crucial Asia Cup game on Tuesday.

His seventh half-century eventually led his side to an eight-run victory over Afghanistan and kept their Asia Cup hopes alive.

Tanzid reached his career-high 35th position after leapfrogging four places, thanks to his blistering knock. He now sits at top by a Bangladeshi batter in the latest ICC rankings.

Tanzid, however, made an ordinary start to the Asia Cup by scoring 14 off 18 against Hong Kong China, a painstaking knock followed by a duck against Sri Lanka.

But when the stake was high, he delivered tremendously to keep the side alive in Asia Cup.

Jaker Ali Anik has also improved in the batting rankings by moving up three places to reach 57th. In the first match, Jaker batted against Hong Kong but remained unbeaten on 0 while he made 41 not out against Sri Lanka.

Along with Shamim Patwari, Jaker shared 86 runs for an unbeaten sixth wicket after Bangladesh slumped to 53-5. However, against Afghanistan, he scored 12 not out after playing 13 balls.

Among others, Liton Das and Parvez Hossain Emon slipped in the rankings.

After scoring 59 runs against Hong Kong, Liton made 28 runs against Sri Lanka and 9 runs against the Afghans. Nevertheless, the Bangladesh captain has dropped one place to 42nd.

Meanwhile, after scoring 19 runs against Hong Kong, Parvez Emon was dismissed for a duck against Sri Lanka. He was dropped from the playing XI in the match against Afghanistan. Emon dropped four places to sit at 75th in the rankings.
