DHAKA, Sept 16, 2025 (BSS)-Sylhet men’s kabaddi team and Habiganj women’s kabaddi team made winning start in the Surma zone National Kabaddi Championship (men’s and women’s) that has begun at Sylhet divisional sports complex in Sylhet today (Tuesday) marking the Festival of Youth 2025.
In the day’s first match of the men’s division, Sylhet district beat Feni district by 65-22 points while Habiganj district thrashed Sunamganj by 72-3 points in the women’s division match.
A total of six teams in the men's division and five in the women's division are taking part in the competition of Surma Zone.
Earlier, additional deputy commissioner of Sylhet Division Padmasan Singh formally inaugurated the competition as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation general secretary SM Newaz Sohag its treasurer Monir Hossain, Sylhet District Sports officer Noor Hossain and Sylhet District Sports Association ad-hoc committee’s member Emran Ahmed Chowdhury were also present at the inaugural ceremony.
The Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation has organized this championship by dividing the entire country into eight zones. The games of Padma, Teesta, Brahmaputra and Rupsha have already finished before the Surma zone.
The winning teams from each zone will participate in the inter-district championship. From there, the four semi-finalists will have the opportunity to play in the national championship along with the services team.
