BOGRA, Sept 13, 2025 (BSS)- The trophy of the five-match NCL T20 cricket
tournament has been unveiled today (Saturday) at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in
Bogra in presence of the captains of Sylhet, Dhaka, Barisal and Rangpur
divisions.
The stadium, which has been neglected for a decade and a half, will host the
inaugural match between Sylhet and Rangpur divisions tomorrow (Monday). The
tournament will run until September 19.
Works have been done to level the outfield, renovate the pitch, and install
high-quality covers for the tournament. Modern dressing rooms, gymnasiums,
and rest rooms have been prepared for the players. Gallery seats have been
repaired, VIP gallery improvements have been made, and lighting arrangements
have been completed.
In addition, modern changes have been made to the press box and media center
for the convenience of spectators and media personnel. All in all, the entire
stadium has been decorated and organized around for this tournament. The
stadium has regained its life.
It can be mentionable that this venue came into the limelight after hosting
the 2004 Under-19 World Cup. Then, in 2006, Shaheed Chandu Stadium gained
special importance in the country's cricket history by hosting several
matches in the ODI series between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Many memorable domestic cricket matches have also been held at this stadium.
However, due to the lack of international matches for a long time, this
cricket venue gradually lost its importance.
