DHAKA, Sept 9, 2025 (BSS)- Hong Kong captain Nizakat Khan vowed to stun Bangladesh once again when the two teams will meet in an Asia Cup encounter at Abu Dhabi on Thursday.

Hong Kong will open their Asia Cup tonight with the match against Afghanistan. But Bangladesh will start their journey by taking on Hong Kong.

The two sides met only once in T20 format and that too in a decade ago in 2014 but that memory is still vivid in Nizakat's mind.

Because he was the cornerstone of Hong Kong's famous victory over Bangladesh by taking three wickets for 19 runs. The two-wicket defeat in 2014 World Cup at home den was a huge upset for Bangladesh and that created a massive uproar.

"It was very special because we beat Bangladesh on Bangladesh's backyard. We did very well, especially I did well," Nizakat recalled.

"Our spinners played very well, yes, it is a memory to savour. I really remember Nadeem Ahmed and I bowled well. We bowled as a pair, which is why Bangladesh collapsed."

No one from the 2014 Bangladesh team is in this team. After that match, the two sides will meet for the first time on Thursday.

Nizakat believes that they can replicate their feat.

"Of course we have that belief. We have players who can win matches. And T20 is a game where the complexion of the match can be changed in one or two overs. T20 is a very interesting game, who knows what can happen. Our team is well prepared.'

After upsetting Bangladesh with the spin-web back in 2014, Nizakat Khan said they want to employ same trick in the upcoming match.

"Our strength is our spin department. We have players like Mortaza, Ehsan Khan. Among the batters, we have Babar Hayat, Zisan Ali, Aizaz Khan. They can turn their game any time.'
