DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS)-A persistent rain forced the third and final T20 
between Bangladesh and Netherlands to be called off at Sylhet International 
Cricket Stadium today.

The Bangladesh, however, confirmed the three-match series by 2-0, following 
their eight-wicket and nine-wicket victory respectively in the first two 
matches.

Bangladesh had aimed to sweep the three-match series by winning third 
straight match but the rain twice interrupted the proceeding and finally 
forced the abandonment.

The hosts came into the game with five changes in a bid to give all players 
in the squad a chance to have a proper match practice ahead of the Asia Cup.

Put into bat first, Bangladesh made a fluent start and reached 164-4 in 18.2 
overs before the rain finally forced the match to be called.

Captain Liton Das who opened the innings, along with Saif Hasan after the two 
regular openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Tanzid Hasan Tamim were rested along 
with Mahedi Hasan, Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman smashed team-best 71 
off 46, clobbering six fours and four sixes.

Saif Hasan was out for 12 but Liton's free-flowing batting kept the 
scoreboard rolling, taking the team to 60-1 in just 4.1 overs before the rain 
hampered the game for the first time.

The game restarted after 30 minutes but Netherlands bowlers regrouped well to 
stem the run flow. Liton was denied a century what looked inevitable and 
Bangladesh lost two wickets in quick succession.

Nurul Hasan Sohan, who played his first T20 International after three years 
and Jaker Ali Anik helped the side regain the control but rain again poured 
heavily to finally forced the umpires to call off the game.

Sohan was batting on 11 ball-22 with Jaker on 20 off 13. 

Netherlands fast bowler Kyle Klein was expensive, giving away 53 runs in four 
overs but took three wickets of Bangladesh. 

Bangladesh team will return to Dhaka tomorrow (Thursday) and will have a few 
days training before flying to United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the Asia Cup.
