DHAKA, Sept 3, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh U-23 football started their AFC Asian
Cup qualification campaign with a losing note s they suffered a 2-0 goal
defeat to host Vietnam in their opening group C match held at Phu Tho
provincial stadium in Vietnam today (Wednesday).
The early breakthrough came for Vietnam when forward Nguyen Ngoc My scored
the first goal in the 15th minute from a well-judge angular shot from top of
the box and after the resumption substitute midfielder Li Viktor sealed the
victory scoring the second goal for Vietnam with a header from inside the
small D-box in the 83rd minute.
Bangladesh U-23 football team will play their remaining group matches against
Yemen and Singapore on September 6 and September 9 respectively.
Forty four Asian teams, split into eleven groups, are taking part in the
meet.
Later, eleven group champion teams, four best group runners-up and hosts
Saudi Arabia will play in the 16-team final round to be held in Saudi Arabia
in January next year.
