DHAKA, Sept 2, 2025 (BSS)—The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Aminul Islam Bulbul believes that three straight T20 series victory will give them a psychological boost in the ensuing Asia Cup.
Bangladesh yesterday confirmed the T20 series against Netherlands by winning the first two matches of the three-match series. Earlier, they clinched a series in Sri Lanka before beating Pakistan at home.
“We won three series in a row. And it appears that the players had a lot of confidence. I think the confidence will be useful in the Asia Cup,” Bulbul told the reporters in Sylhet today.
The BCB boss also finds the team's atmosphere very good at the moment, specially the cricketers who are benched, performing when they get the opportunity.
Saif Hasan played a vital role in winning the first T20 against Netherlands, having scored an unbeaten 36 and taking two wickets.
Nasum Ahmed was named the man of the match in the second match by taking three wickets for 21 runs. Bulbul is satisfied to see cricketers like Nasum and Saif performing well despite not playing regularly in the playing XI.
“It looks there is healthy competition. When your bench is strong, you will get extra cushion. I think we have good players in the bench at the moment,” he opined.
“But it is our responsibility how we build this group. Because this is a game where there are many fluctuations of form. However, consistency in performance comes when the competition increases in the bench and side bench,” he said.
Bulbul especially sees the team's bowling performance as quite positive. In the first T20I, Bangladesh bowlers held back Netherlands to just 136-8 before wrapping the visitors up for 103 in the second game in 17.3 overs.
“What I have seen is the bowlers’ tendency to bowl bad balls decreased significantly,” Bulbul said, adding that the bowlers can win the match in any format of cricket.
“T20 cricket is a game where bowlers feel the pressure most but if you can bowl well, you can win the match. Our advantage is that all of our bowlers are doing well consistently,” he said.
Above all, the board president is of the opinion that Bangladesh are playing as a team. He also praised Liton Das' captaincy.
“They are playing as a team and Liton's presence is very visible. Not only on the field, I mean overall his captaincy is brilliant,” he added.
