DHAKA, Aug 28, 2025 (BSS)-Bangladesh captain Liton Das insisted that winning the three-match T20 International series against Netherlands will be his side's first priority even though the series is seen as the preparation platform for the upcoming Asia Cup.
"International match is always challenging. There is no big or small team here," Liton told the reporters in Sylhet today.
"If we get a chance to check a few players, we will do but at the same time, we'll play to win."
Bangladesh have been training in Sylhet for the last 10 days. The practice camp was moved to Sylhet from Dhaka mainly to cope with wickets and conditions of United Arab Emirates where the Asia Cup will be held.
It is believed Sylhet's condition is similar to UAE unlike Dhaka.
Liton is also happy with the preparations here. When asked about 200-250 runs against the Netherlands, keeping the big score in UAE wicket in mind, Liton said, "What you said is that scoring 200-250 runs is also a matter of habit.
If we can do it, it is very good. Even if we cannot do it, we will try build that consistency."
Liton also believes that the preparation in Sylhet will be useful to adapt to UAE wicket, "When we play in the Asia Cup, we'll get different team. We will not be able to bring the teams who will play Asia Cup, here."
"But I think the conditions will be similar. Because, as we all know, UAE is a batting-friendly wicket. Sylhet is also a batting-friendly wicket to a large extent."
A series victory against Netherlands is expected but a defeat will draw flak. Liton also knows it but he remains pragmatic.
"As I said earlier, in international cricket there is no small team.
Bangladesh have lost to different teams before - nothing new. If we lose, we
lose. What matters is how well we play."
The series opening game is on Saturday. The last two matches are slated for
September 1 and 3.
