DHAKA, Aug 17, 2025 (BSS)— Bangladesh A suffered second defeat in their third match of the Top End T20 series after conceding a five-wicket defeat to Perth Scorchers at TIO Stadium in Darwin, Australia today.
Electing to bat first, Bangladesh A were restricted to a meager 123-9, a total Perth, a franchise of the Big Bash League (BBL) overhauled in 18 overs, reaching 126-5, albeit a hiccup.
Joel Curtis led the charge with 34 ball-44 not out after Perth were reduced to 69-4 in 11th over, giving Bangladesh A a glimmer of hope to win the game, defending such paltry total.
He was ably supported by Matthew Spoors who was also unbeaten on 24. Together they shared 45 runs for the undefeated sixth wicket to sail the side home.
Nayeem Hasan and Rakibul Hasan claimed two wickets apiece for Bangladesh A.
Afif Hossain was the only batter of Bangladesh to make some resistance against a disciplined bowling attack of Perth bowlers. Afif was not out on 42 off 49, hitting four fours, a knock that was key in helping the side go past 100-run mark.
No other batters could even reach 20s. No.9 batter Rakibul Hasan was the next-best with 16 while captain Nurul Hasan Sohan and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury made 14 each.
The top three batters of Bangladesh A were dismissed for single digit figure, giving the side a horrible start from which they could recover eventually.
Bryce Jackson wrecked havoc on Bangladesh a claiming three wickets for only nine runs. Albert Esterhuysen took 2-21 to complement Jackson.
Bangladesh A earlier lost to Pakistan Shaheens by 79 runs before beating Nepal by 32 runs in the second game.
