DHAKA, July 26, 2025 (BSS) - The National Kabaddi (men's and women's) championship, on occasion of Festival of Youth 2025, will begin from Tuesday (July 29) with the participation of all sixty four districts of the country.
The championship, divided into eight zones each with eight district teams, will begin with Padma zone. After the Padman zone, the other zonal phase of the championship will be held in phases.
The zones are named after major river of Bangladesh. The zones are Teesta (Rangpur district), Brahmaputra (Tangail district), Karnaphuli (Cumilla district), Rupsha (Jessore district), Dhansieri (Barisal district) Surma (Sylhet district) and Modhumoti (Gopalganj district).
After the zonal phase, the champions of each zonal venue will play in the inter-district championship. The four semifinalists teams from the inter-district championship along with the services teams will take part in the national championship which will be held in Dhaka later stage.
It was disclosed at a press conference held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium today (Saturday).
Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) general secretary SM Newaz Shohag said the championship would help in discovering the talent of new kabaddi players from remote areas across the country and would take the kabaddi one step further.
National Sports Council Secretary Aminul Islam and BKF joint secretary Abdul Haque and bkf member and Bangladesh Police DIG Md Moniruzzaman were present in the press conference.
