DHAKA, July 16, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) mulls a new series for the national team after the postponement of India's white-ball tour here in August.
Bangladesh were scheduled to play a three-match ODI and as many T20Is against India at home in August. However, the India's tour was deferred for one year and so BCB is looking for new window for the national team in this period.
Cricket Operations Chairman Nazmul Abedeen Fahim said they are trying to play against an International team or visit another country for a short tour.
And if nothing is possible, the BCB is thinking of organising some matches between the national team and the 'A' team.
"Initially we thought if we could organize some matches internally. We have done this before-- something like that the national team will play against the "A" team. That was the part of our previous plan," Fahim told the reporters here today.
"Now we are thinking if we can play with any team or can go somewhere outside for a very short tour. We are looking at this possibility now. If there is no opportunity, then we may play internally."
Bangladesh cricketers will return home tomorrow after playing their last T20I against Sri Lanka today. They will, however, play a three-match T20 against Pakistan in the next week.
The BCB had planned to build a 'good' wicket in the T20I, keeping the upcoming Asia Cup and World Cup in mind. But, Fahim looked doubtful about the plan as the wicket is covered after continuous rain.
However, he said that there will be no experiments in the team before the Asia Cup.
Regarding the team's plan, the Cricket Operations Chairman said, "We want a settled team before the Asia Cup (slated to be held in September this year). We are not keen for too many changes."
"If it is imperative, that is a different matter. However, we want a settled team before the World Cup and I think there should be no unnecessary changes," he added.
