DHAKA, July 16, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh legspinner Rishad Hossain reached his career-best 17th position in the latest T20 bowlers rankings, released by International Cricket Council (ICC) today.
He was rewarded for his excellent performance in the ongoing three-match T20 series against Sri Lanka.
This is the second time that he gained the career high 17th position, which firstly he attained after the West Indies tour last year.
Rishad took 1-24 in Bangladesh's seven-wicket defeat in the first T20 before claiming 3-18 in the second match, which his side won by 83 runs.
Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Tushara has also moved up nine places to 16th in the T20I bowlers' rankings. Tushara has taken one wicket each in the first two T20Is against Bangladesh. Sri Lankan left-arm pacer Binura Fernando, who took three wickets in the second T20I, has jumped 22 places to 48th.
Liton Das, who hammered a match-winning 76 in the second T20 against Sri Lanka, has moved up seven places to 45th in the T20I batters rankings. Parvez Hossain Emon jumped 12 places to 85th. Sri Lanka's Kusal Mendis has moved up three places to 15th.
Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has moved up 21 places to 39th in the T20 allrounder rankings. He scored 29 in the first match and took one wicket. He also grabbed one wicket in the next match.
England legend Joe Root has reclaimed the top spot in the Test batters rankings. Root scored a century in England's first innings in their 22-run win over India at Lord's on Monday. His national teammate Harry Brook has dropped to second place from the top spot.
With this, Root has topped the Test batsmen rankings for the eighth time. Root, at 34, is the oldest batsman to reach the top in the last 11 years. Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara reached the top in 2014 at the age of 37.
Australian pacer Scott Boland has moved up six places to sixth in the Test bowlers rankings. This is the best ranking of his career. He took a hat-trick in the fourth innings of the Kingston Test against the West Indies.
Australian pacer Mitchell Starc, who took six wickets for just nine runs in the same innings, is still in 10th place in the bowlers rankings. Five of the top 10 are Australian bowlers.
