DHAKA, June 22, 2025 (BSS)- The celebration to mark the 25 years of
Bangladesh's Test status is going on in full swing across the country with
the BCB president Aminul Islam Bubul further vowing to bolster the pipeline
of the country's cricket through various activities.
"We will launch the Premier League in the Greater Rajshahi Region," Aminul
said while inaugurating the Under-12 Six-a-Side Cricket competition at
Rajshahi Division Stadium today.
"We will further increase cricket activities here with a large number of
training programmes. Under-14, 16 and 18 cricket was held here already. We'll
unleash two-day cricket to help budding cricketers embrace the Test mode."
The BCB President said, people are spontaneously welcoming Test cricket.
"Bangladesh is already a full member. It has been playing Test cricket for 25
years. We want to look ahead. We want to decentralize it to spread cricket
nationwide."
"We'll organize more tournaments here and other parts of the country to
unearth the new players, who would enrich our pipeline. We are now discussing
to how we can do it across the country."
He praised Rajshahi's cricket ground, saying that "These grounds are so
beautiful, and can compete any outfields in the world."
To commemorate the glorious 25th anniversary of the Bangladesh cricket team's
full Test status by the International Cricket Council (ICC), the BCB has
taken the initiative to organize Under-12 Six-a-side cricket competitions and
celebrations in various divisional cities across the country.
The main goal of this initiative is to increase the popularity of cricket
among future generations, spread it, and spread endless joy among people from
all walks of life.
Meanwhile, Under-12 Cricket Carnival-2025 was held at Shaheed Shamsuddin
Stadium in Sirajganj today to mark the 25 years of Bangladesh Test cricket
status.
Organized by the BCB and with the overall support of the Sirajganj District
Sports Association, 32 under-12 cricketers from various educational
institutions of the district participated in the cricket carnival.
Under the supervision of BCB Sirajganj District Cricket Coach Abdullah Al
Mamun, the cricketers participated in the cricket festival. They played 10-
over-affair game.
A day-long Under-12 cricket competition and cricket carnival was held in
Naogaon.
The young cricketers from different schools participated in the competition.
The prizes were distributed at the end of the event.
"I want to play for the national team when I grow up, especially in Tests.
Playing in white is my dream. My idol is Mushfiqur Rahim. I want to be a
cricketer like him," A school cricket named Rabbani said.
The organizers said that the programme is being organized to involve younger
generation in Test cricket.
