DHAKA, May 6, 2025 (BSS) - Kishorganj District emerged as the champions in the 43rd National Cricket Championship (NCC) after thrashing Cumilla District by 184 runs in the final match at Cox's Bazar International Stadium today.
Shariful Islam led Kishorganj to the comprehensive victory with seven wickets in the four-day match, including a 6-51 in the fourth innings, as Cumilla were bowled out for 152, while chasing a stiff target of 337.
Opener Paran and middle order batter Rubel Mia could make some resistance amid Shariful's carnage. Both of the batters scored 51 to reduce the margin of the defeat to some extent. No other batters even crossed 20-run mark.
Taufiq Ahmed scalped 3-28 while Din Mohammad picked up 1-31 to complement Shariful's effort.
Earlier batting first, Kishorganj amassed 244 in their first innings with Redwan Hossain hitting highest 45 while Zahiduzzaman scoring 41.
Cumilla, in reply, were wrapped up for just 82 in their first innings, to concede a 162-run lead.
The huge lead in fact determined the fate of the game. However Kishorganj, led by Amir Hossain's 57, put up 174 before being all out in their second innings, to set a mighty 337-run target for Cumilla.
Cumilla eventually crumbled under pressure.
Kishorganj's Shariful Islam was adjudged man of the match and tournament simultaneously.
