DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS)-After winning three matches in a row, Bangladesh
Under-19 team tasted a 27-run defeat to Sri Lanka in the fifth game of the
six-match Youth ODI series at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo today.
Bangladesh lost the first game before winning three matches on the trot. The
latest outcome however denied them confirming the series with a game to
spare.
They are now leading the series 3-2. With one match still remaining, Sri
Lanka have the chance to deny Bangladesh a series victory.
Electing to bat first, Sri Lanka were wrapped up for 196 in 42.3 overs with
Aadham Hilmy making team-best 51. Skipper Vimath Dinsara was the other
notable scorer with 42.
Samiun Basir claimed 3-35 for Bangladesh while Saad Islam, Rizan Hosan and
Farhan Shahriar took two wickets apiece.
Despite chasing a paltry target, Bangladesh were bundled out for 169 in 45
overs. Most of the batters got the desired start but no one could convert it
to big knock. After taking three wickets with the ball, Samiun Basir made
team-high 37 with the willow.
The six and last game of the series is on Thursday.
