Bangladesh ranked below West Indies in ODI rankings

DHAKA, May 5, 2025 (BSS)- The Bangladesh national cricket team has slipped
down one spot in the ODI Rankings after the annual rankings update across
three formats by the International Cricket Council (ICC) today.

The latest update saw them ranked below West Indies as they now have 76
rating points after a four-point decline. West Indies eclipsed Bangladesh
with a five-point surge and are now in ninth position with 83 points.

However, Bangladesh retained its place in Tests and T20s. The Tigers are
ninth in those two formats with a rating point of 62 in Tests and 225 in
T20s.

One-day cricket has always been a place of pride for Bangladesh and
considered as the players comfort zone but the latest ranking showed the
other side.

While their sensational ODI success began since the 2015 World Cup, the
performance in this format has been on the decline in the past year.

Bangladesh has won only three of its nine matches. They have won only one
after playing three series. They lost a three-match series to Afghanistan by
2-1 before being swept 3-0 by the West Indies. Those results have had an
impact on the rankings.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan have improved dynamically in the ODI format and went
past England to move to seventh. The former world champions England have
dropped to eighth.

India, who won the Champions Trophy, is at the top of the points table as
usual in ODI. They have 124 points after it was increased by two points.

New Zealand is second with 109 rating points. Australia is third with equal
points by become third by fraction of point. Sri Lanka (104), Pakistan (104),
South Africa (96) are in the next places.

India is at number one in T20 with 271 rating points, Australia is at number
two with 262 points. Bangladesh is in ninth position in this format with 225
rating points.

Australia maintained a comfortable lead at the top of the ICC Men's Test Team
Rankings table. They have 127 rating points while the second placed England
have 105 points.
