DHAKA, May 2, 2025 (BSS)- Titas Club has won the title of champion Great Wall
Ceramic Premier Division Chess League beating Uttara Central Chess Club by 4-
0 game points in 9th round match held at Bangladesh Chess Federation hell
room today (Friday).
Titas Club secured 16 points from nine games.
In the 9th round match, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, Indian FM Panesar Vedant, IM
Mohammad Fahad Rahman and GM Niaz Murshed of Titas Club defeated Md Hasan
Emam, Tashriq Saihan Shan, Ayas Abdullah Khajir Bin and Md Faisal Hossain of
Uttara Central Chess Club respectively.
Titas Club won the title for the first time in the Premier Division Chess
League since its inception in 2011.
Manhas' Castle and Leonine Chess Club both earned 14 match points each from
nine games. Their tie was broken by game points. Manhas' Castle became the
runners-up with 26 game points and Leonine Chess Club finished third place
with 24 game points.
In the 9th round matches,, Manha's Castle defeated Dipali Memorial Chess Club
by 3-1 game points. GM Enamul Hossain Razib and Indian IM Aaditya Dhingra of
Manha's Castle defeated Tahmidul Haque and Mohammad Shakil of Dipali Memorial
Chess Club respectively. Tutul Dhar and Sadat Kibria Ayaan of Dipali Memorial
Chess Club split point with Indian FM Sahib Singh and Syed Mahfuzur Rahman of
Manha's Castle respectively.
Leonine Chess Club defeated Bangladesh Police by 4-0 game points. FM Mohammed
Abdul Malek, Indian IM Aaryan Varshney, Indian IM Kaustuv Kundu and CM Avik
Sarker of Leonine Chess Club, defeated Md Raju Ahmed, Subas Chakma, Mohammad
Abul Hashem Kohen and Md Anisur Rahman of Bangladesh Police respectively.
Bangladesh Navy finished fourth with 13 points. In the last round of the
tournament, Bangladesh Navy defeated Sports Bangla by 4-0 game points. FM
Khandaker Aminul Islam, FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed and IM Md Minhaz Uddin of
Bangladesh Navy defeated Aiyan Rahman, WCM Israt Jahan Diba and Rubel Hossen
of Sports Bangla respectively.
IM Manon Reja Neer of Bangladesh Navy got a walk-over against Subrota Biswas
of Sports Bangla.
Sports Bangla secured 5th place with 10 points. Uttara Central Chess Club
secured 6th place with 8 points. Dipali Memorial Chess Club secured 7th place
with seven points, Janata Bank Officers Welfare Society secured 8th place
with four points, Khelaghar Chess Society secured 9th place with three points
and Bangladesh Police secured 10th place with one point.
In the last round of the game, Janata Bank Officers Welfare Society defeated
Khelaghar Daba Sangah by 2.5-15 game points.
After the game, the prize distribution ceremony was held in the afternoon.
Syed Sujauddin Ahmed, President of Bangladesh Chess Federation distributed
prizes among the winning teams as chief guest. Shoeb Reaz Alam, DIG of
Bangladesh Police and Vice President of Bangladesh Chess Federation presided
over the ceremony.
The event was held in round robin league system and 10 teams participated in
the meet.
Bangladesh Police relegated in the 1st Division for getting lowest place.
Bangladesh Biman and Sheikh Russel Chess Club also relegated in the 1st
Division.
