DHAKA, May 2, 2025 (BSS)-League leaders Mohammedan Sporting Club extended
their lead as they beat Bangladesh Police Football Club by 3-1 goals in the
Bashundhara Group Bangladesh Premier League football held at Shaheed
Dhirendranath Datta Stadium in Cumilla on Friday.
In the day's match, Nigerian forward Sunday Emmanuel scored a brace while
Uzbek midfielder Muzaffar Muzaffarov supported him with a lone goal for
Mohammedan.
Brazilian defender Danilo Augusto netted a lone goal for Mohammedan.
The match was locked goalless at the breather.
After the barren first half, Sunday finally broke the deadlock scoring the
first goal for Mohammedan in the 52nd minute while Danilo restored the parity
for Police in the 65th minute from a penalty.
At one staged it was seemed the match is heading for a draw but Muzaffar
scored the second goal in the crucial moment from a sport kick giving
Mohammedan a 2-1 goal in the 88th minute of the match.
Sunday sealed the victory scoring his second goal for Mohammedan in the
90+4th minute of the match.
The day's win saw, the traditional black and white Motijheel brigade
maintained their solo lead in the points table with 34 points from 13 matches
while Police, who stand fifth position in the league table, remained at their
previous collection of 19 points playing the same number of matches.
Earlier, in the first leg, Mohammedan defeated Bangladesh Police also by the
same identical margin of 3-1 goals held at Mymensingh district stadium in
Mymensingh.
