Bangladesh face Cambodia tomorrow

DHAKA, June 14, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh take on host Cambodia in the FIFA Tier-1 Int'l friendly match scheduled to be held tomorrow (Thursday) in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia.

The match kicks off at 6 pm (BST) at the Olympic Stadium, which has a capacity of thirty thousand spectators. All the tickets for the friendly match were already sold out.

In this regard, a pre-match press conference was held today (Wednesday) at the match venue. The Bangladesh national football team's head coach Javier Cabrera said though they are going to play against Cambodia, their main focus is the SAFF Championship starting from June 21.

"We have several tournaments to play this year ....World Cup qualification is very important, but now we're only focusing on the SAFF tournament, the most important tournament in South Asia," Cabrera said at a press conference.

At the same time, the Spanish-born Bangladesh coach thinks that the match against Cambodia would be very beneficial to prepare the team before the SAFF Championship.

He said the match against Cambodia is important enough for us before the SAFF tournament.

Bangladesh team's captain Jamal Bhuyan, who was present at the press conference, said it was the third occasion he had been in Cambodia.

The midfielder said they have been practicing for the last ten days and their main target is the SAFF Championship. Playing against Cambodia's local team was a good test for the team, but they are prepared for the main test on Thursday, which is important for them.
The Bangladesh captain hoped that: "It'll be a good match because Cambodia has some quality players and we're looking forward to the match."

Meanwhile, the national football team is scheduled to hold practice this (Wednesday) evening at the match venue before the important match against Cambodia.
