
DHAKA, May 12, 2023 (BSS) - The 3rd edition of four-nation Bangabandhu IHF Challenge Trophy Women's (youth and junior) begins from tomorrow (Saturday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen is expected to inaugurate the five-day meet as the chief guest at 11 am.
On the first day of the tournament, India will face Nepal in the inaugural match of the youth section (U-17) at 12 pm while Bangladesh meet the Maldives in another youth section match at 4 pm.
While in the junior section (U-19), India and Nepal face-off in the opening match at 2 pm and Bangladesh lock horn the Maldives in the last match of the day at 6 pm.
After a gap of seven years, Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) in coordination with International Handball Federation (IHF) is all set to host the IHF Trophy commemorating the name of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Eight teams including U-17 (youth) and U-19 (junior) from four countries -- India, Nepal, the Maldives and host Bangladesh - are taking part in the prestigious meet, endorsed by IHF and organized by BHF.
The meet will be transmitted live through the official Facebook page of IHF. The matches will also be telecasted live through online in 47 countries.
