Nayeem, Irin emerge country's fastest man, woman 

DHAKA, March 4, 2023 (BSS)- Nayeem Sheikh of Khulna division and Irin Akter of Rangpur division won the title of fastest men's and women's title in the 100m sprint event respectively of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games athletics held today (Saturday) at the Army Stadium in the city.

Nayeem Sheikh won the gold medal in the boys 100m sprint with a timing of 10.80 seconds. In the first Youth Games in 2018, Hasan Mia of Chattogram division took 10.60 seconds to win this title. Rabiul Islam of Khulna division bagged the silver clocking 10.90 seconds and Arif Billah of Rajshahi division secured bronze with a timing of 11.10 seconds.

On the other hand, Irin Akter of Rangpur division won gold in the girls' 100m sprint clocking 12.20 seconds. In the first edition of the Games Rupa Khatun of Rajshahi division became the fastest girl with a time of 12.30 seconds. 

Sultana Jinnat of Khulna division bagged the silver clocking 12.50 seconds while Umme Sultana Popi of Rajshahi division secured bronze with a timing of 12.60 seconds.

Aslam Sikder of Mymensingh division won gold in the boys 800m race clocking 1 minute 59.77 seconds and Mumunal Hossain Munna of Rajshahi division bagged silver with a timing of 2 minutes 01.84 seconds while Niamul Sheikh of Khulna division secured bronze medal clocking 2 minutes 02.39 seconds.

While Tanzina Akter Tanisha of Chattogram division won the gold in clocking 2 minutes 33.07 seconds and Rishi Akter of Dhaka division bagged the silver with a timing of 2 minutes 34.31 seconds. Besides, Shayla Khanam of Khulna division secured bronze clocking 2 minutes 36.81 seconds.
