World Aquatics president vows to support Bangladesh in swimming 

DHAKA, March 3, 2023 (BSS)- World Aquatics president AHZ Husain Almusallam said World Aquatics is prepared to provide all out support to Bangladesh in improving the standard of swimming.

He was speaking as the chief guest during the opening ceremony of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games swimming discipline held today (Friday) at Bangladesh Naval Swimming Pool in the city's Banani area.

"I am very happy to come to Dhaka. I have great fond memories and good relations with the Bangladesh swimming federation's (BSF) officials. I am really happy to meet BSF's president M Shaheen Iqbal," he said.

He said: BSF is really a good partner of Asian Swimming Federation and World Swimming Aquatics. Dhaka is the place where Asian Aquatics started.

Hussain Al Musallam, also Director General of the Olympic Council of Asia and Secretary General of the Kuwait Olympic Association, assured that all kinds of support would be provided from the World Swimming Aquatics to the BSF president and the BOA so that the swimmers of Bangladesh can improve diving and other technical aspects.

Explaining the assistance program in detail, he said, they have three-phase program in this area. In the first phase, starting from the very grassroots, there are opportunities for children to learn swimming. In this case, the World Swimming Organization is prepared to provide financial and technical support to Bangladesh. 

In the second step, swimmers can try to improve their quality. In this case, the World Swimming Organization will soon send high-quality coaches who will train local coaches. In addition, in the third stage, he assured upgrading the standard of selected local coaches and referees providing them advance training.
