Final phase of Sheikh Kamal Youth Games continues on Day 5

DHAKA, March 2, 2023 (BSS) - The final phase matches of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games continued on the fifth day held today (Thursday) at separate venues in the city.
 
Table Tennis

Chattogram division maintained their supremacy by winning gold in the both boys' and girls' doubles table tennis event held at Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Indoor Stadium in the city.

Chattagram division's Khai Khai Marma-Aishi Rahman pair won the gold by defeating Khulna's Lakshi Dey-Anika Khatun pair by 3-0 sets. Rangpur division and Rajshahi division won bronze in this event.

Chattogram division also won gold medal in boys' doubles event.

 Chattagram division's Hasibur Rahman and Prameet Dey pair won the coveted gold beating their Rajshahi's pair Nafis Iqbal and Joy Islam by 3-1 set in the final also held at the same venue. Rajshahi division won the silver while Khulna division and Dhaka division bagged bronze in this category.

Gymnastics

Tonuroy Tripura of Chattogram division won the gold in the boys' pommel horse gymnastics held today (Thursday) at National Sports Council gymnasium in the city.

He scored 10.65 in this event to win the coveted gold medal. Wu Waimong Marma of Dhaka division bagged the silver medal with a score of 10.55 while Jiban Tripura of Dhaka division bagged the bronze medal scoring 9.65.

Banafuli Chakma (12.50) of Chattogram division won the gold in the girls' vaulting table event. Khingkhing Sai Marma (11.95) of Dhaka division bagged silver and Khainai May Marma (11.35) of the same division secured bronze medal.

Jiban Tripura of Dhaka division won gold in the boys' vaulting table (13.00). Tanurai Tripura and Tarit Mohan Chakma of Chattogram division secured silver and bronze medals respectively.

Nijhum Khisa of Chattogram (11.967) won gold in the floor exercise event.

Jiban Tripura of Dhaka bagged silver and Arif of Rajshahi division secured bronze medal.

Hockey

Dhaka division secured coveted gold medal in the boys' hockey as they beat Rajshahi division by 3-2 goals in the final held today at Maulana Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.
 
In the proceeding, Amirul, Pavel and Dwin scored one each in the 21st, 25th and 59th minutes respectively for Dhaka division while Hasib Hossain and Tayeb Ali netted one goal apiece for Rajshahi division in the 24th and 35th minutes respectively.

On the other hand, Khulna Division won gold in the girls' hockey when they edged past Chattogram division by a solitary goal held at the same venue.

In the day's final match, Eva Khatun scored the all-important goal for Khulna in the 28th minute of the match.
 
Earlier, Dhaka division secured bronze in this event after beating Rajshahi division also by the same identical margin of 1-0 goal in the place-deciding encounter held at the same venue.

Suborna Akter scored the decisive goal for the winning team in the 44th minute of the match.

Archery

Archer Riyad Ahmed of Rajshahi division won bronze in the boys' individual recurve event beating Abdullah Mohammad Rafi of Chattogram 6(10)- 5 (9) in tie breaker held at archery training center of Shaheed Ahsan Ullah Master Stadium in Tongi.

Rajshahi division's two archers Abdur Rahman Alif and Sagar Islam will compete in the boys' gold deciding individual recurve event final to be held tomorrow (Friday) afternoon at the same venue.

Farzana Akhtar Jyoti of Khulna division secured bronze medal in the girls' individual recurve singles defeating Sumaiya Akhtar of Dhaka division 6-4, Jyoti Rani of Khulna division face Urmi Khatun of Mymensingh division in the girls' individual recurve singles final to be held tomorrow (Friday) at the same venue.

Khulna Division (Ahnab Shakib, Al Amin and Nahid Biswas) defeated Chattogram division (Abdullah Al Mohammad Rafi, Haribachchan Chakma and Mohammad Rafi) by 6-0 to win the bronze medal in the boys' recurve team event. Rajshahi division face Dhaka division in the final of this event to be held tomorrow (Friday).

Rangpur division (Khurshida Jahan Khushi, Meghla Rani and Shela Akhtar) won the bronze medal in the girls recurve team event defeating Chattogram division (Nandita Chakma, U Mai Ching Marma and Urni Sha Marma Pushpa) 5-1. Khulna division face Dhaka division in the final of this event tomorrow (Friday) at the same event.

Khulna division's Fahmida Sultana Nisha and Niloy Mollah won the bronze medal beating Rangpur division's Khursida Jahan Khushi and Himel Sarwar 6-0 in the mixed recurve team event.Chattogram division face Dhaka division in the final of this event to be held tomorrow (Friday).

Kabaddi

Khulna division emerged champions to win gold in the girls' kabaddi event beating Barisal division by 26-16 points in the final held at National kabaddi stadium in the city.

Besides, Chattogram division and Mymensingh divisions secured bronze medals in this event.

Rugby

Khulna division take on Rangpur division in the boys' rugby's final scheduled to be held tomorrow (Friday) at outer stadium in the city's Paltan.

On the other hand, Dhaka division face Chattogram division in the girls' rugby's final on the same day.

On way to the final, Khulna division beat Sylhet division by 22-0 points while Rangpur division defeated Chattogram division by 7-0 points in their respective boys' semifinals.

While Dhaka division beat Khulna division by 10-0 points and Chattogram division outplayed Rangpur division by 7-0 in hteir respective girls' semifinals.
 
Wrestling

Rangpur division maintained their full dominance in wrestling event. The Rangpur division won two gold and one bronze medal in three events held in the morning at the Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex in the city.

Dipti Roy of Rangpur won gold, Sohela Khatun of Khulna won silver and Faimui Ching Marma of Chattogram and Bristy Chakraborty of Rangpur won bronze in the girls' 36-40 weight category.

While Sifatullah of Rajshahi division won gold, Ariful Islam of Khulna division bagged silver and Aminur Rahman of Chattogram division and Akash Rahman of Rangpur division secured bronze in boys' 41-45 kg weight category. Maheshwar Chandra of Rangpur division won gold, Hasan Shikdar of Khulna division bagged silver and Rakib of Khulna division and Ariful Islam of Dhaka division secured bronze medal in boys' 48 kg weight category.
 
Basketball

Rangpur and Khulna divisions confirmed their spot of final in the girls' basketball of the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games eliminating their respective rivals in the semifinals held at basketball court of Bangladesh Army Stadium.

In the day's first semifinal, Rangpur division beat Dhaka division by 44-10 points while Khulna division overpowered Chattogram division by 40-18 points in the day's second semifinal. The gold medal of this event will be decided through the final to be held tomorrow (Friday).

On the other hand, Khulna division face Chattogram division in the boys' basketball final. Chattogram division confirmed their spot of final as they beat Dhaka division by 56-13 points and Khulna defeated Rajshahi by 51-24 points in their semi-finals held today (Thursday) at the same venue.
 
Shooting

Zidan Hossain of Dhaka division won the gold in the boys' 10m air rifles event of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games with a score of 303.9 points.

Sadman Azmain Rafid of Dhaka division bagged the silver with 294.8 points and Hriday Ahmed of Dhaka won the bronze with a score of 292.4.
 
While Zafirah Khanam Chowdhury of Dhaka division won gold medal in the girls' event with a score of 310.9, Fatema Akhter Mina of the same division bagged silver with a score of 304 and Mahadia Mahnoor of Chattogram division secured bronze with a score of 299.

Athletics

Aslam Shikdar of Mymensingh division (4 minutes 19.80 seconds) won gold in the boys' 1500m athletics event held at Bangladesh Army Stadium.
Siam Hossain of Khulna division (4 minutes 19.90 seconds) won silver and Shahadat Hossain of Dhaka division (4 minutes 20.20 seconds) secured bronze in this event.

While Nupur Karmakar (5 minutes 20.5 seconds) of Khulna division won gold in girls' 1500m event, Sushmita Barman (5 minutes 31.54 seconds) of Rangpur division bagged silver and Shayla Khanam (5 minutes 37.20 seconds) of Khulna division secured bronze medal.

Monirul Mollah (6.62m) of Khulna division won gold in the boys' long jump, Ifte Hossain Imu (6.62m) of Khulna division bagged silver and Ashraful Haque (6.60m) of Rangpur division secured bronze medal.

In girls' shot put, Jayita (10.24m) of Khulna division won gold, Maria Sheikh Joyta (10.20m) of Rangpur division bagged silver and Tanzina Akhter Tamanna (9.67m) of Chattogram division secured bronze medal.

Karate

The karate discipline of the Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games concluded at Mirpur Indoor Stadium in the city with the domination of Chattogram division.

Seven events of boys' and girls' kumi were decided on the last day with Chattogram division won maximum eight gold medals out of total sixteen events.

Bangladesh Olympic Association's (BOA) deputy secretary general and Bangladesh Volleyball Federation's general secretary Ashikur Rahman Miku distributed the prizes as the chief guest on the last day of the competition.

Chattogram division's Ruitam Mro won gold in the girls' -55 kg kumi event. Nadia Sultana oof the same division won the silver medal while Barisal division's Mithila Ahmed Mau and Sylhet division's Nusrat Jahan Shikdar Anika secured bronze medals.

Md. Asadullah Hill of Rajshahi division won gold medal in the boys' U-67 kg kumi, Mahidur Islam Deep of the same division bagged silver medal while Md. Sabuj of Rangpur division and Sudarshan Bikam Chakma of Chattogram division secured bronze medals.

Nahida Akhtar of Chattogram division won the gold medal in girls' Under -61 kg Kumi, Annesha Dey of the same division bagged silver medal while Lamiya Islam Momi of Barisal and Fariha Reza Oishi of Dhaka division secured bronze medals.

Sanaul Haque Shakib of Dhaka division won the gold medal in the boys' U-75 kg kumit, SM Zarif Kabir of Chattogram bagged the silver while Yasin Roman of Dhaka division and Souya Roy of Sylhet division secured bronze medals.

Uma Chowdhury of Chattogram division won gold medal in girls' U -68 kg kumi and Jannatul Farham Utos of Dhaka division bagged silver medal while Samuda Majumdar Drishti of Chattogram division, and Zarin Tasnia Yantha of Barisal division bagged bronze medals.

Najib Bin Taufiq of Dhaka division won gold in the boys' +75 kg kumi and Syed Raihan of Barisal division bagged silver while Md. Yasin Islam Mahadi of Dhaka division, and Md. Muntasirul Islam Emon of Chattogram division secured bronze medals.

Mochammat Sumiya Akter Ritu of Dhaka division won gold in the girls' +68 kg kumi and Atkia Nusrat of Rajshahi division bagged silver while Mushriyah Irtesar of Barisal division, and Taseem Akhtar of Rangpur division secured bronze medals.

Football

Khulna division secured bronze medal in boys' football event beating Sylhet division by 5-3 goals in penalty shootout in the keenly contested place-deciding encounter held at Outer Stadium in Paltan.

The match rolled in to a tie breaker after the regulation time ended in a 1-1 draw.

In the regulation time, Alamgir gave Khulna division a deserving lear early in the very 4th minute while after the breather Nasir of Sylhet Division took the match to a tiebreaker as he equalized the margin in the 79th minute of the match.

The boys' and girls' football finals will be held tomorrow (Friday) to decide the gold medal.
