BARISHAL, Jan 31, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell today laid the foundation stone of Sheikh Russell Mini Stadium in Bakerganj upazila of the district.

The state minister laid the foundation stone as the chief guest in the area adjacent to the helipad of Ward No. 6 of the municipality this afternoon with Deputy Commissioner (Acting) and District Magistrate Gautam Bari in the chair.

Barisal-6 Constituency Member of Parliament and Jatiya Party Presidium member Begum Nasreen Jahan Ratna addressed the function as the special guest.

Upazila Chairman Mohammad Shamsul Alam, Municipal Mayor Lokman Hossain Dakua, PS to Sports State Minister Abu Nasher Bhuiyan, National Sports Council Director (Planning and Development) Md. Shamsul Alam, Project Director Md. Mahbub Morshed Sohel, National Sports Council Assistant Engineer Shibulal Khaskel, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Upazila Nirbahi Officer (Addition in-charge) Abujar Md Ijazul Haque, among others, were present at the function.

Upazila Youth Development Officer Md Delwar Hossain moderated the function.

Shibulal Khaskel, Assistant Engineer of the National Sports Council, said that this stadium is being constructed in 86 upazilas in the second phase under the Sheikh Russell Mini Cricket Stadium construction project funded by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Sheikh Russell Bakerganj Mini Stadium, he said, is being constructed involving Taka 6.10 crore by the National Sports Council.
