DHAKA, Jan 9, 2023 (BSS)- The Inter-upazila matches and inauguration ceremony
of Sheikh Kamal second Bangladesh Youth Games continued on eighth day held
today (Monday) at different districts across the country.
In Joypurhat district, the inter-upazila phase swimming competition was held
at the swimming pool and training center of Dhanmondi CRD School. Sanjay
emerged first in the 50m freestyle in boys' swimming competition.
Besides, Tarek Pradhan in 100m freestyle, Yudhistir Burman in 200m freestyle,
Abu Talha in 50m in back stroke, Rakib Hossain in 100m back stroke, Abu Naser
in 50m breaststroke, Nahid in 100m breaststroke and Abdullah Al Kafi in 50m
butterfly fly emerged top in their respective events.
In Magura district, inter-upazila Magura phase cycling competition was held
at Bir Muktijoddha Asaduzzaman Stadium. Hossain of Magura Sadar upazila and
Farzana Khatun of the same upazila emerged first in the cycling competition.
A total of eight players-- four of boys and equal number of girls--
participated in the event. Zakaria of Shalikha upazila and Chaiti Biswas of
the same upazila finished second position in the boys' and girls' events
respectively.
In Lalmonirhat district, inter-upazila Lalmonirhat phase kabaddi competition
was held at Sheikh Kamal Stadium with the participation of five upazilas.
Lalmonirhat sadar upazila and Patgram upazila reached group phase final in
the boys' event while Lalmonirhat sadar upazila and Hatibandha upazila
reached group phase final in the girls' event.
In Sherpur district, sadar upazila became champions by defeating Nakla
upazila 2-1 in boys group football held at Shaheed Muktijoddha Memorial
Stadium. Sadar upazila became the champion by defeating Jhenaighati upazila
1-0 in the girls' football event. Sadar upazila emerged champions after
defeating Nakla upazila 2-0 sets in the boys' group volleyball event while
Sadar upazila emerged champion defeating Jhenaighati upazila in the girls'
event.
In Chapainawabganj district, inter-upazila phase of the Youth Games
inaugurated at Dr. AAM Mesbahul Hoque (Bachchu Daktar) Stadium.
Chapainawabganj District Sports Association (DSA) in cooperation with
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) organised the games with the
participation of all five upazilas of the district.
Deputy Commissioner of Chapainawabganj AKM Galiv Khan inaugurated the games
as the chief guest. Upazila Executive Officer of Chapainawabganj Sadar Md.
Rawshon Ali was also present in the opening ceremony, presided by Additional
Deputy Commissioner (general) of the district Ahmed Mahbubul Islam.
Shibganj Upazila Sports Association emerged champions in the boys' badminton
event while Bholahat upazila Sports Association finished runners-up.
The football (boys' and girls'), volleyball, athletics and handball events
will be held tomorrow (Tuesday).
In Barguna district, inter-upazila phase kabaddi competition was held at
Barguna district stadium. Six boys and six girls' kabaddi teams from six
upazilas are taking part in the competition.
After the group stage, Barguna Sadar and Amtali upazila reached boys' group
final while Barguna sadar and Patharghata upazila have confirmed the girls'
group final. The finals will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at the same venue.
In Thakurgaon district, Zihad Hossain of Pirganj emerged first in the wushu
(Sanda) boys 45-kg weight category event held at Shaheed Muhammad Ali
Stadium. Labib Haider of sadar upazila finished second position. Sadre Sagar
Islam emerged first in the 48-kg weight category while Hriday of Pirganj
finished second position. Mustafa Gani of sadar emerged first in the 52-kg
weight category while Apon of Pirganj finished second position. Roknuzzaman
of Ssdar emerged first in the 56-kg weight category while Digant Burman
Adhikari of Ranishankail upazila finished second position. Pallab Chandra Roy
of Baliadangi emerged first in the 60-kg weight category while Shakil Islam
of Pirganj finished second position. Shimu Akhter of sadar emerged first in
the boys 45-kg weight category while Sumi Akhter of Pirganj finished second
position. Sumita Rani of Sadar emerged first in the 48-kg weight category
while Bithi Akter of Pirganj finished second position. Anupama Roy Bonna of
Baliadangi emerged first in the 56-kg weight category while Sri Disha Barman
of Ranishankail finished second position.

Putia upazila emerged champions in the girls' event while Paba upazila
finished runner-up. Pabar Parvez emerged first in the boys' swimming in 50m
free style event while Habibur Rahman finished second position. In 100m

second position. Pabar's Minhaj Hossain emerged first in te 400m race while

In Chattogram district, Joint Secretary of Chattogram Zila Krira Sangstha
(CZKS) and Taekwondo Committee's Chairman Md. Moshiur Rahman Chowdhury
inaugurated the taekwondo competition at CZKS Gymnasium. CZKS's Vice-
President and inter-upazila Chattogram phase coordinator Hafizur Rahman was
also present there. Earlier, football, wushu and handball events have started
at Chittagram district phase.
Mohammad Taher Ul Alam Chowdhury Swapan, vice president of Chattogram DSA,
and General Secretary of Bangladesh Cycling Federation, inaugurated football
event at MA Aziz Stadium. Wushu event was inaugurated by CZKS's vice-
president Advocate Shahin Aftabur Reza Chowdhury. Handball event was
inaugurated by CZKS's executive member and chairman of handball committee
Syed Abul Bashar.
In Nilphamari district, Nilphamari district phase competition of the games
concluded today (Monday).Nilphamari's deputy commissioner Pankaj Ghosh
distributed the prizes among the winners' as the chief guest held at Sheikh
Kamal Stadium. Nilphamari sadar upazila emerged champion in the boys' and
girls' football events. Nilphamari Sadar upazila team beat Kishoreganj
upazila by 4-2 goals in boys' football while Sadar upazila team defeated
Domar upazila by 3-0 goals in the girls' final match.
