6th day's results of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games

DHAKA, Jan 7, 2023 (BSS) - The Inter-upazila matches and inauguration ceremonies of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games continued on 6th day held today (Saturday) at different districts across the country.

In Sherpur district, inter-upazila phase has started at Sherpur Shaheed Muktijoddha Memorial Stadium. District's Deputy Commissioner Sahela Akhter inaugurated the games as the chief guest.

Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Abu Bakar Siddiqui, Municipal's Mayor Golam Mohammad Kibria, Sadar Upazila's executive officer Mehnaz Ferdous and Mymensingh Divisional Sports Association's (DSA) general secretary Abdullah Al Fuad Reduan, were among others, present in the opening ceremony, presided by Sherpur district's additional deputy commissioner Muktadirul Ahmed.

On the opening day, eight events of three disciplines including football, chess and table tennis were held in the boys' group.
 
Around 550 under-17 youth athletes are participating in 18 events of seven disciplines. The disciplines are football, volleyball, swimming, athletics, chess, table tennis and badminton.

In Habiganj district, the inter-upazila phase has started at Habiganj Modern Stadium. 

Zilla Parishad's chief executive officer Nurul Islam inaugurated the games as the chief guest.

Additional district magistrate Priyanka Pal, general secretary of district Awami League Advocate Alamgir Chowdhury, Habiganj DSA's general secretary Badrul Alam, Habiganj press club's general secretary Pradip Das Sagar and gymnastics federation's general secretary Ahmadur Rahman were present as the special guests in the inaugural function, presided by Habiganj DSA's vice president advocate Shah Fakhruzzaman.

A total of eight events will be held in the games. More than 1000 athletes from nine upazilas of the district are participating in the games. The closing and prize distribution of the Games will be held on January 9.

In Natore district, the inter-upazila phase of the games has begun at Shankar Gobind Chowdhury Stadium.

Md. Shafiqul Islam Shimul, member of parliament of Natore-2 Constituency inaugurated the Games as the chief guest.

Natore's deputy commissioner and DSA's president Shamim Ahmed presided over the opening ceremony.

Volleyball and Kabaddi in team events and Badminton, Taekwondo, Chess and Athletics in individual events are being held with the participation of various upazilas of Natore district.

In Pirojpur district, Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim inaugurated the inter-upazila phase games as the chief guest held at Pirojpur district stadium.

Mohammad Zahedur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Pirojpur and president of DSA spoke in the opening ceremony. 

Pirojpur's additional superintendent of police Sheikh Md. Mostafizur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner (general) Monira Parveen, additional district magistrate Md. Aminul Islam, additional district commissioner education and ICT Madhavi Roy and other officials of the district administration were also present there.

Eight events will be held in boys' and girls' category of the games in Pirojpur. The eight events are football, kabaddi, athletics, chess, swimming, badminton, cycling and shooting. Seven upazilas of the district are participating in this youth games. The competition will conclude on January 10.

In Sunamganj district, Sadar upazila emerged champions in handball, kabaddi and table tennis competitions. These individual competitions of Sheikh Kamal 2nd Bangladesh Youth Games were held today Saturday from 10 am to 5 pm at the District Stadium in collaboration with Bangladesh Olympic Association, organised by Sunamganj DSA.

Nearly 100 participants selected from 12 upazilas of the district participated in these events.

Sunamganj Sadar Upazila team emerged champion while Dirai Upazila finished runner-up in Handball, Sadar Upazila emerged champion while Shalla Upazila finished runner-up in Kabaddi and Sadar Upazila emerged champion while Biswambharpur Upazila finished runner-up in table tennis.

As part of the Youth Games, various events among the boys and were held at Sunamganj District Stadium on the three-day. Athletics and chess events were held on the first day, karate and badminton and swimming events were held on the second day and handball, table tennis and kabaddi events were held on the third day. Later, district's deputy commissioner Didare Alam Mohammad Maqsud Chowdhury distributed the award in the closing ceremony.

Deputy Director of Local Government Department Mohammad Zakir Hossain, additional superintendent of police Md. Abu Saeed, district DSA's former general secretary Md. Nazir Ahmad Chowdhury, DSA's vice president Sirajur Rahman were also present at the prize distribution ceremony held at District Stadium. 

Sunamganj DSA's general secretary Dewan Imdad Reza Chowdhury and DSA's member Dilara Begum, were among others, also present in the prize distribution ceremony.

In Niphamari district, Sadar upazila and Kishoreganj upazila football team reached the boys' football final held at Sheikh Kamal stadium. Sadar upazila football team defeated Syedpur upazila football team by 2-0 goals to reach the final while Kishoreganj upazila football team confirmed their spot of final after beating Jaldhaka upazila football team 6-5 in the tie breaker after the regulation time ended in a goalless draw.
The final match will be held tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon at the same venue.

On the other hand, the girls' group matches will also be held at the same and same venue.

In Chattogram district, Chattogram city corporation's former Mayor AJM Nashir Uddin inaugurated the chess event at Chattogram CJKS convention hall in Chattogram this morning. Badminton event was inaugurated by CJKS joint secretary and Badminton Committee Chairman Aminul Islam.

In Kurigram district, badminton competition was held at Kurigram district stadium ground. Sadar Upazila's Shimand-Ankan pair emerged champions in boys' doubles event beating Khalid-Bishal pair of Rajarhat by 2-0 sets while Vishal Ahmed of Rajarhat became the boys' singles champion.

DSA's vice president advocate Ahsan Habib Neelu and convener of badminton competition Zillur Rahman Titu distributed the prizes after the game.

In Sherpur district Stadium, Sadar Upazila beat Srivardi Upazila by 1-0 in boys' football while Nakla Upazila beat Jhenaighati Upazila by 2-0 goals. Sadar upazila beat Srivardi upazila by 1-0 goal while Jhenaighati upazila beat Nakla upazila by 1-0 in girls' football.

Samiur Rahman Rian of Sadar Upazila emerged champion in boys' rapid chess while Saikat Sarkar of Nakla upazila finished runner-up. 

Syeda Afia Mahbub of Sadar Upazila emerged champion and Adiba of Nalitabari finished runner-up in girls' blitz rapid chess. In the blitz chess boys' event, Swadhin Sarkar of Nakla upazila emerged champion while Nasimul Hasan Nayan of Sadar upazila finished runner-up.

Sidratul Muntaha Bushra of Sadar Upazila became the champion and Maria Islam of Srivardhir finished runner-up in girls' chess. Sherpur Sadar Upazila emerged champions in team event chess while Nakla Upazila finished runner-up.

In Gaibandha district, Sadar Upazila emerged champions in the boys rugby event defeating Sadullapur Upazila by 21-0 points. Swimming boys' division games have been completed with Ratan Mia of Sadar Upazila became the first in 50m free style and Shakib of Phulchhari Upazila finished second position. Himel of Sadar Upazila became first and Shakib of Phulchhari Upazila finished second in 100m freestyle. Manik Miah of Sadar Upazila emerged first and Disan Ahmed Jisan of Phulchari Upazila finished second in 200m free style.

Jasiduddin of Saghata upazila emerged first and Zahid Sarkar of Phulchhari upazila finished second in 50m back stroke. Ratan Mia of Sadar Upazila emerged first and Limon Mia of Sadullapur Upazila finished second in 100m back stroke. Manik Miah of Sadar Upazila emerged first and Hasan of Sadullapur Upazila finished second in 100m breast stroke.

In 50m butterfly, Ratan Mia of Sadar Upazila emerged first while Hasan of Sadullapur Upazila finished second position.

In Thakurgaon district, Jeevan of Pirganj emerged first while Arjan Das of Sadar upazila finished second in the boys' taekwondo +59 kg event.

In the -51 kg event, Sreepraban Roy of Pirganj emerged first while Rabiul Islam of Baliadangi finished second position. In the -55 kg event, Khairul Islam emerged first while Piad Jahan Sabuj of Baliadangi finished second position. 

Ruli Das of Pirganj emerged first and Rima Akter of Sadar Upazila finished second in the girls' taekwondo +52 kg event. In the -59 kg event, Sadikunnahar of Baliadangi emerged first while Ankhi Akter of Sadar finished second position. In the -44 kg event, Mili Akhter of Ranishankoil emerged first while Fatema Akhter Opi of Baliadangi finished second position.

In Noakhali district, Tarek of Sadar emerged first while Begumganj's Baki Billah finished second in the boys' 100m sprint event held at Shaheed Bhulu Stadium in Noakhali. In the 200m sprint, Sunam of Hatiar emerged first while Baki Billah of Begumganj finished second position. In the 400m race, Tarek of Sadar emerged first while Shubo of Chatkhil finished second position. In the 800m race, Fahim of Sadar emerged first while Rabiul of Begumganj finished second position.

In the 1500m run, Fahim of Sadar emerged first while Sajjad of Companyganj finished second position.

Mohaimenul Akhtar of Sadar emerged top while Anwar Hossain of Companyganj finished second in the boys' long jump event. Sadar's Mohaimenul emerged first while Sunam of Hatia finished second in the boys' high jump.

Sonia Akhtar of Chatkhil emerged first while Tamanna Akhtar of Sadar finished second in the girls' 100m sprint. In the 200m sprint, Tamanna Akhtar of Sadar emerged first while Sumaiya Akhtar of Chatkhil finished second position. In the 400m race, Tanisha of Sadar emerged first while Jannatul Naeem of Companyganj finished second position.

In the 800m race, Tanjila Akhter of Sadar emerged first while Sonia of Chatkhil finished second position. In the 1500m race, Tanisha of Sadar emerged first while Jannatul Naeem of Companyganj finished second position.

In long jump, Tanisha of Sadar emerged top while Priya Akhtar of Companyganj finished second. In high jump, Tamanna Akhtar of Sadar emerged first and Tahmina Akhtar of Senbagh finished second position. In the shot put event, Tanzina Akter of Sadar emerged first while Banya Akter Meem of Begumganj finished second position.
