RAJSHAHI, July 9, 2026 (BSS)- Until completing his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, Hasibur Rahman spent much of his time working alongside his father in paddy fields to help support his family.
Years later, the farmer's son from a remote village in Rajshahi has achieved one of Bangladesh's most coveted career milestones by being recommended for the Administration Cadre in the 47th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS).
Hasibur's journey from the fields of Pakuria village in Dhurail Union under Mohanpur Upazila to the country's elite civil service has become a source of pride for his family, educational institutions and the entire upazila.
He is the youngest of five children of farmer Badr Uddin and Mosa Bibijan Khatun, an aya at Mohabbatpur-Khanpur Degree College. Growing up in a financially struggling family, Hasibur balanced academic pursuits with household responsibilities, often working in the fields with his father while continuing his studies.
Determined to overcome economic hardship, he completed his primary education at Pakuria Government Primary School, secondary education at Mohabbatpur High School and higher secondary education at Mohabbatpur-Khanpur Degree College. He later earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees in Botany from the University of Dhaka.
Hasibur currently serves as an Officer (General) at Sonali Bank PLC. He has also been recommended for the post of Senior Officer. Despite the demands of his banking career, he continued preparing for the highly competitive BCS examination and ultimately secured a place in the Administration Cadre through the 47th BCS.
His success has sparked celebration across his hometown, with well-wishers, former teachers, students and representatives of various social and cultural organizations visiting his home to congratulate him.
According to local residents, Hasibur is the first person from Pakuria village to become a BCS cadre, making the achievement a matter of pride for the entire community.
Recalling the family's long struggle, Hasibur's father Badr Uddin said they had raised their children through immense hardship and expressed gratitude for his son's success.
"We brought up our children with great difficulty. Allah has honored us. Please pray that my son can serve the people of the country," he said.
His mother, Mosa Bibijan Khatun, said the family's years of sacrifice had finally been rewarded. "We are overjoyed. Today, all our struggles feel worthwhile," she said.
Hasibur's wife, Sidratul Muntaha, an assistant teacher at a government primary school, said she had always encouraged him to remain persistent.
"I always told him to keep trying and never give up. Today, we are all delighted by his success," she said.
Expressing gratitude, Hasibur said he takes pride in being a farmer's son and credits his achievement to the sacrifices and prayers of his family.
"My parents endured countless hardships to educate us. Their blessings, along with the support of my wife and siblings, have brought me to this position. I now want to dedicate myself to serving the people of the country," he said.
Principal of Mohabbatpur-Khanpur Degree College Sheikh Md. Rezaul Karim described Hasibur as a hardworking and talented student from an early age.
"We are proud of his success. His achievement will inspire our current students to pursue their dreams with determination," he said.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Fahima Binte Akhtar said Hasibur's accomplishment has brought honor to Mohanpur. "On behalf of the upazila administration, we will accord him a formal reception," she added.
Hasibur Rahman's remarkable journey demonstrates that financial hardship and limited opportunities need not stand in the way of success.
His rise from a farming family in rural Rajshahi to the Administration Cadre serves as a powerful example of how perseverance, discipline and determination can transform dreams into reality, inspiring countless young people across the country.
