DHAKA, Sept 12, 2026 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed today urged meritorious students to develop themselves as responsible, capable and ethical individuals whose achievements can inspire others and contribute to the country’s future.

“You have to build yourselves in such a way that one day you can become a source of inspiration for others,” he said while addressing meritorious children of DMP members at the DMP Scholarship-2025 distribution ceremony.

The ceremony was held at the Rajarbagh Police Auditorium, where the Commissioner, as chief guest, handed over scholarship money to the recipients.

A total of 437 meritorious students received scholarships this year. Among them, 249 students at the secondary and higher secondary levels received merit scholarships, while 188 students pursuing higher education received education support scholarships.

Congratulating the recipients, the DMP Commissioner wished them a bright future and continued success in their academic and personal lives.

“The future leadership of Bangladesh will emerge from among the meritorious students of today. Some of you will lead important sectors of the country, some will create new knowledge, some will dedicate yourselves to serving people, and others will play significant roles in the development of the country,” he said.

He encouraged the students to pursue excellence while upholding honesty, humanity, discipline and a strong sense of responsibility toward society and the country.

The Commissioner said a scholarship should not be viewed merely as financial assistance, but also as recognition of a student’s talent, hard work, perseverance, dreams and potential.

“The success of the meritorious children of DMP members is a matter of immense pride and joy not only for their families but also for the entire Dhaka Metropolitan Police,” he said.

Highlighting the sacrifices made by police families, he noted that DMP members often work around the clock to ensure public safety and security, frequently spending long hours away from their families—even during festivals and other important occasions.

“DMP members work day and night to ensure the safety and security of people. They perform their duties in scorching heat, rain, late at night and even during festivals and other important occasions. At times, they have to remain at their workplaces when their families are observing important moments together,” he said.

He added that the support, patience and sacrifices of police families play an equally important role in enabling police personnel to carry out their responsibilities.

“The success of their children is one of the greatest sources of motivation behind these sacrifices,” he said.

Urging the scholarship recipients to look beyond the award itself, the Commissioner encouraged them to regard the recognition as motivation to pursue greater achievements.

“Your talent and hard work are being recognized through this scholarship. Take this recognition as an inspiration for achieving greater success in the future,” he said.

He further expressed hope that the students receiving scholarships today would go on to become the leaders, innovators and change-makers of tomorrow.

Senior DMP officials, including Additional Police Commissioners, Joint Police Commissioners, Deputy Police Commissioners, Additional Deputy Police Commissioners, Assistant Police Commissioners and officers of different ranks, attended the programme.

Family members of DMP personnel and the scholarship recipients were also present.
